Adhesion Testing
ASTM D413, ASTM D429, ASTM D903, and ASTM D2229

Summary
Adhesion testing can be used to characterize the strength of bonds between materials, coatings, and adhesives.
Test Details
ASTM D1329 provides a way to quickly and consistently evaluate both the viscoelastic properties of rubber along with the effects of crystallization at low temperature. With established correlations to low-temperature compression set and brittleness points, the TR70 value and TR10 value are both very common data points for this test. ASTM D746 and D2137 are two types of brittleness point testing that examine the low temperature flexibility of materials through impact. Based upon application, this testing is often utilized for both comparative for R&D purposes to determine the lowest temperature that a sample can be expected to perform as well as compliance, with a simple “Pass/Fail” test at identified temperature.
