Flammability

ASTM C1166, UL94, and FMVSS302

Summary

This test method is designed to differentiate the flame propagation characteristics of dense or cellular elastomeric compounds used in gaskets, setting blocks, shims, or spacers.

Test Details

ASTM C1166 characterizes materials upon their flame propagation properties in ways that can help drive material selection in building construction. UL 94 can determine the surface ignition rating, horizontal burn rate, and self extinguishing capacity of a vertical burn. FMVSS 302 reviews burn rate characteristics of materials utilized in motor vehicles.
